Malacañang Proclamation 247 released in September 2002 declared September as DPRM and designated PIDS as the coordinator and convenor of the annual celebration. The month-long celebration aims to promote and amplify the importance of policy research in crafting evidence-based development plans, programs, and policies.

This year’s 21st DPRM takes on the theme “Going Green and Digital for a More Sustainable, Inclusive, and Prosperous Future for All”. It highlights the importance of the interconnected processes of green transition and digitalization—or the twin transition—to build back better and stronger after the COVID-19 pandemic and achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Throughout the month, various events organized by PIDS and its partners will feature evidence-based discussions on the twin transition and how to manage and implement it effectively in the country.

The DPRM kicks off on September 5 with a press conference at the Park Inn Hotel North Edsa, setting the tone for the celebration.

The highlight of the DPRM is the 9th Annual Public Policy Conference (APPC) on September 19 at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Center in Makati City. The hybrid event consists of four plenary sessions featuring experts and champions in digital transformation and green transition. The conference explores how developing countries like the Philippines can implement the twin transition effectively, offering evidence-based insights and perspectives.  It is organized by PIDS with support from the AIM Andrew L. Tan Center for Tourism and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

The 9th Mindanao Policy Research Forum (MPRF) on September 28 via Zoom caps off the DPRM celebration. It convenes scholars, policymakers, and stakeholders from Mindanao to participate in an evidence-based conversation about the twin transition, highlighting regional perspectives and actionable recommendations.

PIDS encourages all sectors to join the month-long DPRM celebration and learn about the twin transition as a way forward for the Philippines to have a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future. The activities provide a platform for discussion and collaboration in collectively navigating the complex path to rapid digitalization and green transition.
