Exchanging Currency? Banks and other institutions charge consumers a fee for currency conversions. Their fee is built into the exchange rate which is why your real rate will be different from these market rates shown above. Consumers can typically expect to pay 2-4% when exchanging currency in small amounts "over the counter". You can expect to take more of a hit - paying 7 to 9% - at retail outlets or in "convenience" locations like airports. You'll likely get the best rate from your bank or a foreign exchange company. Converting larger amounts will generally yield better rates though discounts are not generally available for exchanged amounts below $10,000. INSTRUCTIONS: Enter the amount to be converted and the intial currency. Then select the currency you wish the intial amount to be converted into. The result will be shown below after you click the "Convert Button". |

The challenge for overcoming this problem from the point of view of the national government and LGUs remains a daunting task but recent developments have converged to address this with renewed optimism. The Public Telecommunications Policy Act of the Philippines (RA 7925) with its core principle of giving universal access to basic telecommunication service in unserved and underserved areas at affordable rates has set the stage for the broadband revolution in the country. Suddenly, LGUs have become energized to come up with programs to harness internet access in jumpstarting its economic projects and social services. Previously obscure LGUs get to showcase their indigenous culture and strengths in eco-tourism, instantly giving them a world presence and opportunity for growth. |
