Pinamalayan is a significant center of trade and commercial activities. Its influence area covers the municipalities of Socorro, Pola, Gloria and Bansud as well as the island province of Marinduque and Romblon.
Wednesday and Saturday are the market days. Bark trading maybe observed in the public market. Rice, banana, vegetable, coconut, fishery and livestock are the predominantly traded agricultural products. Pinamalayan is also a central source of household items, apparel and other consumer products.
Business establishments are mostly located in the Poblacion totaling more than 800; these vary from commercial trading, manufacturing and service centers.
The industry sector of PInamalayan is confined to those engaged in agri-processing (69.5%) followed by food processing, automotive body assembly and garments / textiles and footwear. Banana Chips and Ceramic production are considered to be the emerging industries in Pinamalayan. |

Development in the agriculture sector shall be achieved through the diversification and intensification of currently cultivated areas. The development of the municipality's pasture area (4,675 hectares) shall also be pursued to support the development of its local livestock industry.
Consequently, Pinamalayan is expected to support agro-processing expansion in Region IV. Trends indicate strong demands in existing and potential markets for rice, coconut products and byproducts, fruits, livestock and poultry. Municipal Fisheries

There are 499 fisher folks in the municipality, most of them residing along the nine coastal barangays. n the year 2006, the Municipal Agriculturist's Office (MAO) has conducted nine Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (FARMC) classes in the nine coastal barangays. The MAO has also conducted rientations regarding RA 8550 of the Fisheries Code.
