Home For Visitors Tourist Information Festival PINAMALAYAN'S BAHAGHARI FESTIVAL

A simple town festivity that has evolved into a world-class celebration:

Welcome to

The Bahaghari Festival!

Tracing its roots from the mythical founding of Pinamalayan,

the Bahaghari Festival is a reflection of the first Pinamalayeños'

joy and thanksgiving for the divine guidance of a rainbow

that guided them through a raging sea towards a land of promise and bounty.

The Bahaghari Festival is held during the warm summer months

of March and April, right after the harvest season.

Aside from the festival's historical significance,

locals also celebrate their bountiful agricultural yield

and see the celebration as the perfect opportunity

to show their appreciation for all the blessings of the previous year.

This “Celebration of Colors” represents the vivid flavors of Pinamalayan

that are as varied and mesmerizing as that of a rainbow.

GRAND PARADE OF COLORS

The Bahaghari Festival is ushered in by an explosion of colors as people from every group, organization, school, business enterprise, and office (both public and private) come together wearing every color imaginable. Tourists will have a grand time clicking away as wave after wave of colorful images fill their lenses. Be amazed by huge floats, sway to the beat of marching and drum and glockenspiel bands, and witness street dance performances that rival that of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

CENTURION FESTIVAL

A celebration that traces its roots to the Bible and one that has evolved into an event that's uniquely Pinamalayan—colorful and tourist-centric, while remaining faithful to our religious customs and traditions. Walk among living, breathing praetorians garbed in rainbow hues and prepare to be taken back to the biblical era in a special Lenten theater presentation.

BANGKARERA

A rare event that sees local fisher folk racing around a pre-designated course using their trusty bancas. Thousands bear the mid-day heat to witness this adrenaline-filled event. Participants from the neighboring municipalities like Pola and Bongabong make sure that they have entries in this competition.

SARANGGOLA NG HARI KITE-FLYING CONTEST

This is how Pinamalayan paints the sky with rainbow colors. Jeep-loads of participants from the neighboring municipalities of Naujan, Pola and Bongabong join Pinamalayeños in letting loose their flat- and figure-type kites to win the coveted title.

AGRO-TRADE FAIR

Local products and delicacies and unique souvenirs are the order of the day in this event. Barangays try to out-market each other by displaying their wares in kiosks creatively made of indigenous       materials—which in itself is a sight to behold.

BOXING AT THE PARK

A knock-out event featuring promising local pugilists. Experience a jab of excitement as boxers slug it out on the canvass. Men, women, both young and old are seriously hooked on this testosterone-filled sporting event. It is undoubtedly one of the best crowd-drawers.

BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

If basketball was a religion, prepare to witness a gathering of the faithful: Night after night, hundreds of people flock to the Punzalan Gymnasium as the biggest, fastest and most talented local dribblers outhustle, outplay and outscore each other on the hard court.

MANGYAN DAY

Get up close and personal and spend time with the  genteel and amiable Mangyans at the town plaza for their own special day. Open your eyes to Mangyan traditions and culture in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

CYCLING COMPETITION

A one-day event where local and guest entrants pit stamina and cycling skills to show everyone who the real “King of the Road” is.

MARATHON

Another one-day event that will test runners’ feet as they pound the pavement in a 10-kilometer run within Pinamalayan

SEARCH FOR MISS BAHAGHARI TOURISM

Local beauties prove why they should be crowned Pinamalayan’s fairest. A rigorous month of screening and preening culminates in a night of glamour and beauty where the most scintillating and most radiant Pinamalayeña is crowned.

CULTURAL NIGHT

A significant part of the celebration. It serves as an avenue for young talents to showcase their artistry and acting skill. Tourists should not miss this opportunity to know more about Pinamalayan as performers breathe life to the town's history and culture.

SENIOR CITIZENS’ NIGHT

It's retro to the max as the municipality shows its appreciation to the elderly members of its constituency. ―The good ol' days are brought back in this night of dancing and reminiscing. It is usually celebrated simultaneous with the Cultural Night.

BARANGAY NIGHT

A night of fun, frolic and thanksgiving as all officials of Pinamalayan's 37 barangays get together. Political bigwigs traditionally grace the event.

WOMEN’S NIGHT

Pinamalayan shows its support to women empowerment by dedicating a special night for the ladies. It features various activities that underscore their indispensable role in development.

GRAND CORONATION NIGHT

Traditionally held on the eve before the Fiesta where the Festival Queen and Her Court are crowned. It is where one may witness one of the grandest fireworks displays in the entire festivity.

BAHAGHARI SONG FESTIVAL

This event has every Pinamalayeño and contestants from the neighboring municipalities practicing the entire year. Filipinos’ love for music is evident in this six-week-long event as hundreds of people flock to every presentation night.

LA TONDEÑA SHOW

A consistent benefactor of the town fiesta,  La Tondeña makes sure that fiesta night will always be as fun as it can ever be. The free show features a smorgasbord of entertaining skits and performances that attract hundreds of families, making this one event Pinamalayeños look forward to every year.

SANDIWANGAN:  THE MARDI GRAS

What's the best way to end an explosive celebration? Punctuate it with a bang! Its party 'til you drop as Pinamalayan ends its festivities with a street party like no other:Ballroom dancing, videoke, live band performances, disco: Whatever entertainment catches your fancy, you'll find it in every street corner! Locals and tourists will definitely trip out on a symphony of visual and aural treats in this all-night party.
