The Regional Tourism Master Plan of Southern Tagalog envisions Mindoro as an Island Paradise, giving emphasis on sustainable development of its eco-tourism sites as well as its various historical, cultural and archaeological features. Further, its goal is to develop tourism without compromising the ways and values of the locals as well as indigenous communities.
The establishment of Convention Center is a part of a long-term recommendation for Pinamalayan following the completion and/or establishment of the following: an airport; a direct link to Manila via the “Super Cat” ferry system; adequate and satisfactory tourist accommodations and upgrading of their quality; and the improvement of Calapan - Pinamalayan section of the Strong Republic Nautical Highway (SRNH) network. Pinamalayan was selected to be the site of the convention center due to its strategic location at the center of the province.
The development of the Tourism Sector shall be achieved through a heightened promotion campaign, focused fiscal incentives and the development of service infrastructure. Pinamalayan is expected to continue its role as a business hub, particularly in the central and southern portion of Oriental Mindoro. It shall also become a significant rest and recreation center, and the presence of pristine natural spots complement the requirements of the nearby urban centers such as CALABARZON and Metro Manila.
Trends indicate a good demand for business hotels, urban-type recreation and upland and water-oriented eco-tourism facilities. A local tourism circuit shall be developed to the link the Poblacion with the beach and mountain resorts. Facilities should be able to cater to a wide market segment, from local, regional and international clientele. |
